When Lord Huron stopped at The Current, their latest album, 'Vide Noir', was but three days old. 'For once we timed it right where the record came out when we started touring,' laughs Lord Huron frontman Ben Schneider. 'It feels good, it feels like the stars are aligned.' It's easy to think Houston-based trio Khruangbin might be from Thailand. 'The first album was inspired by Thai music and our band name is Thai,' says bassist Laura Lee, 'but we pull from music from all over the world.' In town for a show at the Turf Club in St. Paul, Khruangbin stopped at The Current for a session hosted by David Safar.

'This was really a passion project, this record,' Bedouine says. 'I didn't really think it would see the light of day. Everything else was really unexpected.' Now with a critically acclaimed debut album and a spot opening for Waxahatchee and Hurray For The Riff Raff, Bedouine stopped at The Current studio for a session hosted by Mark Wheat.

Writing favorably about Calexico's new album, 'The Thread That Keeps Us,' many critics have described the album as freewheeling, gritty or aggressive. 'We were just having fun, just messing around,' explains Calexico frontman Joey Burns. 'You go in [to the studio] and you want to try something new.' The lyrics of Phoebe Bridgers' songs are so emotionally vivid, it makes sense that when it comes to songwriting, Bridgers follows her gut. 'I don't really have a process that I could write out for anybody or tell anybody how to do it,' Bridgers says. 'It's just whatever happens to be on my mind.' In town for a sold-out show at the Turf Club, Bridgers and her band & stopped at The Current for a session hosted by Jade.

Los Angeles band L7 gave the structural integrity of the Bill Kling Public Media Center in St. Paul got a good test today with a rocking set in the The Current studio, in a session hosted by Mary Lucia. 'We're a meat-and-potatoes rock band with a conscience and some humor,' says L7 frontperson Donita Sparks.
