In the run-up to the release of their next album, 'L.A. Divine' (due out April 7, 2017), Cold War Kids stopped at The Current for a stripped-down session hosted by Mary Lucia. The new album comes on the heels of 'First,' the band's 2015 hit single. 'What a total rare miracle to have a song do so well and have a whole new audience be introduced to your music,' frontman Nate Willett says.

Halfway through a very busy tour for her album, 'Highway Queen,' Nikki Lane stopped at The Current for an in-studio session hosted by Bill DeVille. Lane plays three songs from the album and talks a bit about being called the First Lady of Outlaw Country. 'I think in general, musical cannot be described in words, especially in one word,' Lane says, 'but I am kind of outlaw and I am kind of Americana, and I think a lot of other people are too that don't sound just like Waylon Jennings.'

Touring the U.S. for two months with Cold War Kids, Australia's Middle Kids stopped by The Current studio for a session hosted by Mark Wheat before heading off to South by Southwest in Austin, Texas. 'We would like some really yummy barbecue,' frontperson Hannah Joy says, looking ahead to SXSW. 'We also just feel so excited to be able to share our music with more people.'

GRAMMY award-winner Thundercat and his band stopped by The Current to chat with host Mac Wilson and to perform songs off his new album, 'Drunk,' live in-studio.

In town to perform at the First Avenue Mainroom, California rockers The Growlers stopped at The Current for a session hosted by Sean McPherson. Although they originally described their music as 'beach goth,' the Growlers have distanced themselves from that categorization. 'We make this music for ourselves and decide to share it with people,' frontman Brooks Nielsen explains.

Touring in support of his newly released album, 'Life Will See You Now,' Jens Lekman stopped at The Current studio for a session hosted by Mac Wilson. Lekman played a set of solo acoustic songs and pulled back the curtain on his songwriting process. 'When I don't know what to write about, I usually check my text messages to see what I've sent to friends of mine,' Lekman says.

After releasing his first four albums with traditional record labels, Black Joe Lewis chose the autonomous route for 'Backlash,' his fifth full-length. 'I like doing it my own way,' he says. Touring in support of 'Backlash', Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears stopped at The Current for an in-studio session hosted by Mary Lucia.

London's The Japanese House visited The Current's studio to play songs from a couple of their recent EPs. In the course of the interview, frontperson Amber Bain explains the band's connection to actor Kate Winslet. Bain also reveals the surprising production locations used for a couple of the band's videos.
