Melina Duterte, aka Jay Som, was signed to Polyvinyl Records and released a debut album, 'Everybody Works,' on March 10, 2017. ' I'm still getting used to it,' Duterte says of her budding career. 'I feel like I'm at the beginning stages of making music my job.' Jay Som joined New Hot host David Safar for an in-studio session.

In town to play a sold-out show at St. Paul's recently reopened Palace Theatre, Regina Spektor stopped by The Current for a session hosted by Jim McGuinn. The session features fantastic song performances and deep conversation. 'I feel like with music, people have this idea that you either write about yourself or you just write using fiction and that's not personal,' Spektor says. 'But to me, I truly believe that fiction and surrealism and psychedelic thoughts are just as personal.'

Known for their big dance-rock sound and their spectacular lighting at their live shows, Portugal The Man visited The Current's studio for a stripped-down set and a lively conversation with Mark Wheat.

While in the Twin Cities, singer-songwriter Tim Showalter of Strand of Oaks stopped at The Current to play a solo piano set in The Current studio. Margo Price performed songs off her debut album 'Midwest Farmer's Daughter' and a humorous unreleased track, plus a Kris Kristofferson cover in honor of his 80th birthday.

Touring heavily in support of their third studio album, 'Terrible Human Beings,' the Orwells stopped at The Current for a session hosted by Mac Wilson. The Orwells let the music do the talking, wasting little time getting right into the rock.
