Touring in support of her new album, 'Young In All The Wrong Ways,' Sara Watkins visited our studio for a session heard on Radio Heartland and on The Current's 'United States of Americana.'

'American Band', the new album from Drive-By Truckers, comes out Sept. 30, and is being hailed as the band's most explicitly political record to date. 'Every time I turn on the news or look at my phone, some other just horrendous thing has happened, and often it's so senseless,' says the band's Patterson Hood. Ready to celebrate the release of her latest album, 'Impossible Dream,' at Sociable Cider Werks in Minneapolis on Sunday, Sept. 25, Haley Bonar and her band stopped in to The Current's studio for a session hosted by Mac Wilson.

With a career stretching back nearly 30 years, the Posies are touring in support of their latest album, 'Solid States'. In a session hosted by Brian Oake, the Posies' Ken Stringfellow considers what's fueled the band's longevity. 'We have esoteric tastes and we're curious people,' he says. 'We're not going to stay in one spot.' Check out the complete session.

California quartet Warpaint recently stopped by our studio to share songs from their forthcoming release, Heads Up. The group also chatted with Mac Wilson about the making of that album.

After opening Rock the Garden earlier this summer, California rockers Plague Vendor returned to the Twin Cities for a show at the Turf Club. Ahead of their St. Paul appearance, the band stopped by The Current studio to talk with Sean McPherson.

Ahead of the Saturday, Sept. 17, release party for their album, 'Cheat and Start a Fight,' Black Market Brass stopped in to The Current studio to jam out a few numbers and to chat with host Mark Wheat. 'If you see us live, we're going to be playing tunes right off the bat, just right after each other, nonstop,' says Black Market Brass guitarist Mitch Sigurdson, and that's exactly what Black Market Brass do in their studio session.

Tegan and Sara are on the road with a fun, flashy tour spotlighting songs from their two most recent albums, 'Heartthrob' and 'Love You to Death.' They left the light-up dance floor behind, though, when they visited our studio to play stripped-down versions of three songs from those albums.

Afro-futurists ZULUZULUU are a six-member band based in the Twin Cities, and they're known for the soulful, textured music that stands out on debut album 'What's the Price.' They've just won the Current's Local Music Exchange and announced a four-night residency at Icehouse, so to get to know them better, Andrea Swensson hosted the band for a session in The Current's studio.

What eventually became Whitney began as an experiment to explore what was possible with a four-track tape machine. The group liked the songs they were writing to test out the machine, and the band Whitney materialized. 'We realized the band and the album we were working on was going to be good,' says drummer and singer Julien Ehrlich. Ahead of a show at the Triple Rock Social Club in Minneapolis, Whitney visited The Current's studio for a session hosted by Jade.
