Following a gig at First Avenue, Corinne Bailey Rae and her band stopped by The Current to perform live in-studio and to chat with host Mary Lucia.

Born and raised in Shreveport, La., singer-songwriter Kyle Craft now lives in Portland, Ore., where his music career began in earnest. 'A lot of things had ended, and I guess I needed a new start,' he says of his move to Portland. That new start resulted in Craft's debut album, 'Dolls of Highland,' and a subsequent tour that brings him to the Turf Club as well as to the studio at The Current for a session hosted by Brian Oake.

'I've known my whole life that I'm alive to make music,' Esme Patterson says. 'I want to keep writing songs and playing them for people.' After playing a lively show at the 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis on Monday night, Patterson and her band stopped in to The Current studio for a session hosted by Mary Lucia.

Sisters Emily, Camilla and Jessica Staveley-Taylor may be from Watford, England, but they spent enough time in the Upper Midwest to nearly be considered local. Between performing at the Winnipeg Folk Festival and recording at Justin Vernon's April Base Studio in western Wisconsin, the Staves stopped in to the Forum at MPR for a performance before a live audience, hosted by Bill DeVille.

Ahead of the release show for their latest album, 'radiate/dissolve,' Rogue Valley stopped in to the studio to play some songs and to chat with Mary Lucia. Although 'radiate/dissolve' was three years in the making, it was nurtured during the band's time on the road. 'This record is informed by touring, by location, by where we've been,' keyboardist Linnea Mohn says.

Will Toledo, frontman and visionary behind Car Seat Headrest, is introducing the world to Car Seat Headrest, the band. 'This is no longer a solo project,' he says. In town to play a sold-out show at the Triple Rock Social Club, Car Seat Headrest visited The Current's studio, where they played songs off their debut album, as well as a web-exclusive cover of David Bowie's 'Blackstar.'
