Adia Victoria, now touring in support of her debut album, 'Beyond the Bloodhounds,' visited The Current's studio ahead of her show at the 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis. Victoria first fell in love with making music when she was a young girl. 'It made me feel empowered to stand before people and sing a song, versus just speaking,' she says. 'I felt a connection with people that I didn't feel otherwise. I felt alive.'

In town for a show at Target Center with Brandi Carlile, the Avett Brothers stopped in The Current's studio for a session, during which they played some songs from their forthcoming album, 'True Sadness.' Watch two videos and hear the entire session.

Ahead of their performance at Rock the Garden, Minnesota's Hippo Campus stopped by The Current to perform live in-studio and to chat with Andrea Swensson on The Local Show.

On tour with Sam Beam and Jesca Hoop, New Zealand singer-songwriter Marlon Williams visits The Current's studio for a session hosted by Mac Wilson. After encountering country music as a teenager, Williams has found his niche writing and performing in the Americana genre.

Sam Beam had the idea of making a duet record, but he didn't find the right collaborator until he stumbled upon Jesca Hoop's music. 'Her voice is fantastic, she has a really fun sense of melody,' Beam says. Touring in support of their album, 'Love Letter for Fire,' Beam and Hoop visited The Current's studio for a session hosted by Mary Lucia.

Joseph are a trio from Portland, Ore., comprising sisters Natalie, Allison and Meegan Closner. Besides their tight, sibling harmonies, their family ties create something intangible. 'There's also this entire lifetime of shared experience,' Natalie says. '[We're] bringing the spirit of that into the music as well.'
