Following the release of Paging Mr. Proust, the Jayhawks stopped by The Current to perform live in-studio and to chat with Andrea Swensson, host of The Local Show.

Soul singer Charles Bradley sings not only from his heart, but from his entire being. Bradley, together with his band the Extraordinaires, bring their soulful tunes into The Current's studio for a session hosted by Mac Wilson. 'Music is what's keeping the world together today,' Bradley says. 'We've got to make it right all over the land.'

Bryan Nichols has many years of experience in the Twin Cities music scene. If you've been to a jazz-leaning show at Icehouse or the Dakota, you may have even seen him live. If you don't know his name, though, now is the perfect time to learn it.

Local hip-hop artist Prof has a reputation for putting on a great live show. 'To craft a set, I like to go on a roller coaster,' he says. 'I like go super down low, I like to go high, and it means more when you come to a complete stop, and now you're sprinting, so you feel that more.' For Minnesota Music Day, Prof stopped in to The Current studio for a session hosted by Sean McPherson.

The James Hunter Six's latest album, 'Hold On!,' was released in February 2016 on Daptone Records. Between gigs during a two-night stand at the Dakota in Minneapolis, the James Hunter Six visited The Current for a session hosted by Bill DeVille. Hunter is known for his soulful vocals and effects-free guitar playing; he even teases that he doesn't use a tuner. 'Tuning? That's for jazzers, that is!' Hunter jokes.

Nada Surf, touring in support of their new album 'You Know Who You Are,' stopped in to The Current's studio for a session hosted by Mac Wilson. 'The beauty of pop music is that even if some of the forms have been repeated a lot, there's always some little twist that can give you the right that it's all different and that each song is its own little universe,' says frontman Matthew Caws.

Astronautalis came by our studio to perform new songs from his album 'Cut the Body Loose.'

Melbourne may be half a world away from Minneapolis, but Courtney Barnett has found a loyal group of fans in the Twin Cities. 'From the first time we ever came here, I really did feel the love,' Barnett says, 'so thank you.' In the Twin Cities to play two sold-out shows at First Avenue, Courtney Barnett stopped at The Current studio for a session hosted by Brian Oake and Jill Riley.
