Fallon has a strategy for multitasking: 'I have a thing where I only write one record at a time,' he says. While in the Twin Cities for a show in Minneapolis, Fallon stopped at The Current for an in-studio session hosted by Mac Wilson.

Lake Street Dive's new album, 'Side Pony', was produced by Dave Cobb, a producer whose work in the Americana genre has earned acclaim. Lake Street Dive aren't necessarily Americana artists, but that didn't matter. 'We don't really of a good job at defining ourselves by a specific genre,' says Lake Street Dive's Rachael Price, 'which is just maybe something that isn't necessary to do at all.' Kaleo's name is Hawaiian, the band members are Icelandic, they recorded their EP in London and their home is now Austin, Texas. 'It was a logical decision to move to the U.S.,' says frontman JJ Julius Son. 'It made sense.' Now on tour, Kaleo stopped at The Current to play songs and to talk to Mark Wheat before their show at the Triple Rock Social Club in Minneapolis.

Julia Holter's 2015 album, 'Have You in My Wilderness,' found itself included in many best-of lists. 'Things like that don't show in obvious ways,' Holter says, 'but we are selling out shows … that's the most clear change for me.' Before a gig at the 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis, Holter and her band stopped in to The Current for an in-studio session hosted by Mark Wheat.

Just one week out from his double Grammy win and set to play a sold-out show at Northrop in Minneapolis, Jason Isbell stopped by The Current's studio along with Amanda Shires and Sadler Vaden. The three performed a set of four songs and chatted with host Bill DeVille. 'I love the studio and I love the station,' Isbell says during his visit. 'We always appreciate it.'

Low Cut Connie brought their spirited rock 'n' roll to The Current's studio for a session hosted by Mac Wilson, kicking out a rollicking rendition of their single 'Boozophilia,' followed by a barrelhouse medley of the Velvet Underground's 'Foggy Notion' and David Bowie's 'Suffragette City'. 'It's a pleasure to be able to have a platform to honor [Lou Reed and David Bowie], and to put our little stamp on their music,' says the band's Adam Weiner.

With their debut full-length album, 'You're Dreaming,' now released, the Cactus Blossoms are ready to take the show on the road. They'll soon be shuffling off to Milwaukee to begin a tour, but not before they stopped in to The Current for a session hosted by Bill DeVille.
