The Chart Show: The National on top, but the royals are coming

The Royals are coming...the royals...?!

Is it just a coincidence that on the week of the birth of George, the royal newborn, that
ALL the new entries seem to have a reference to him?!?

Bubbling under for the last few weeks, Lorde explodes on to the Chart with the highest new entry, with a song called... "Royals"! Franz Ferdinand, named after another royal prince, storms in, too.

The Pixies hit the Chart for the very first time with their very fine new single which perhaps
predicts George's first job... "Bagboy"?!? By the time he grows up, being dubbed 'The People's Prince' will mean that he'll have to take public service to a whole new level!

The National meanwhile keep the top spot. They'll be in town performing at Roy Wilkins August 6, and we've invited them in to do a special session before their show.

Submit your Chart Show ballot for a chance to win a pair of 3-day Summer Set Music Festival passes and VIP camping.

Savages take a tumble this week BUT if you missed their session in The Current studios, it was a cracker. They just played a sold out show at the Triple Rock last week, but they have another Twin Cities date scheduled for September 17 at First Avenue.

Jake Bugg is inducted into the Chart Hall of Fame just ahead of his sold out show at Fine Line August 5, and we lost Queens of the Stone Age along with last week's double inductees, Daft Punk and Dessa. (By the way, we just posted new video from her show at the Fitzgerald Theater!)
