It's appropriate that Lorde stays at the top this week; she's been a hooj fave at The Fair! It's always interesting to see and hear the listeners' reaction to the songs we play. Young and more mature audience members have been requesting Lorde's song "Royals" and marveling at its back story! I'm continually blown away by how many parents share the love of The Current with their kids AND grandkids! It's been an honor to see so many regulars who make it a tradition to stop by the booth.

According to their very nicely put together website, the band name should have a period: Portugal. The Man. Sorry about missing that for the last three weeks. But their song, "Purple Yellow Red and Blue" is the biggest upward mover, perhaps courtesy of the magic hit-making touch of the producer, Dangermouse!

We lost Laura Marling and Har Mar, again, and got two more inductees to The Chart Hall of Fame: CHVRCHES, who will be playing First Ave on Monday, Sept. 9, and we'll have them in studio that night at 7:30; and Lissie, who did a great version of her song "Shameless" in studio for us.

It's the first time, I think, that we've had two bands with "all cap" names, as NONONO make their debut. They also have a very nice site which tells us they're on tour in Germany right now and having the finishing touches made to their debut album.

Superchunk also make their debut after being our CD of the Week, and it was great to read this SPIN article about how they've positively affected their community through their work on Merge Records.

Speaking of community . . . come out and support ours at the Fair on Friday night for MN Music on-a-Stick! I'll be wrapping things up at our booth Monday from 3 to 6 p.m., with guest Chastity Brown playing at 4 p.m.

Happy Labor Day!!
