Jeremy Messersmith AND Jake Bugg are inducted into our Chart Hall of Fame this week. Jeremy has added an extra show at First Avenue now, Feb. 21 and 22. Jake played there last week and stopped by to do a great acoustic session that we'll air on Tuesday, Jan 28 at 6 p.m. He talked about soccer, too, so we'll feature him in the On The Ball blog that I write every Monday!

Big jump for Broken Bells (Danger Mouse and James Mercer of The Shins) who are getting ready for their world tour which has already sold out at First Avenue on Feb. 28. According to a new video on their website they've been warming up in a piano store in Paris?!

Submit your Chart Show ballot this week for a chance to win tickets to the sold out Welcome to MN Tour — Minneapolis at First Avenue on Monday, Feb. 17!

Highest new entry this week is Courtney Barnett, a young woman based in Melbourne, Australia who's been made an artist to watch for 2014 by the BBC and plays a sold out NME Awards show in London next month. Her short US tour is already sold out in NYC, too. I love the lyrics to "Avant Gardner" about having a tragic episode happen while gardening in 40° C degree weather!

Lizzo is the hottest local prospect of the year, and she bangs into the chart at #13. She'll be at our sold out Friday Birthday Party. If you can't make it to our celebration tune in both nights to enjoy the show on the radio!

Good to see St. Vincent bounce back after a week's hiatus. I mentioned her and Courtney in a Pick Three piece last week for Soundcheck at WNYC.

And it's good to see veteran indie archduke Stephen Malkmus back on our chart with his Jicks.
Not sure he would have done this with his old band Pavement, but two weeks ago when the Wig Out at Jagbags was released he had a small party at an ice cream store in Brooklyn, where he'd created a flavor. Trouble was it happened to coincide with the coldest day in NYC in 100 years!! Hope he has better luck on his tour which stops at Cedar Cultural Center Feb. 18.
