Arcade Fire, retain the top spot but are apparently having trouble selling seats at Target Center for their show March 8. Another new way of doing business is offering special deals up to 50% off on Groupon?!
J. Roddy Walston and the Business are inducted into the Chart Hall of Fame and they're poised for a very busy spring, appearing several times at SXSW in Austin coming up in March and Coachella in April. They are supporting Cage The Elephant and Foals at the Myth May 15.
Speaking of Austin, it has done a deal apparently with the New Musical Express in the UK so that the annual awards show that happened tonight in London was billed as the NME Awards with Austin, Texas... A little weird but definitely a big up to city that bills itself as the Live Music Capital of the World! HAIM were up for several awards and released a new video for "If I Could Change Your Mind" to celebrate.
Beck had another strong week on the list and his new album, the first in six years, is our CD of the Week. Steve Seel thought it was a great follow up to Sea Change, Pitchfork not so much, giving it a 6.8 and suggesting that, "It's the sound of a rule-breaker dutifully coloring inside the lines."
Courtney Barnett has just finished a short tour of the East coast getting time to stop in at WNYC's Soundcheck show for a live session. Check the bottom of that page too as Minnesota's own Jeremy Messersmith was just there as well!
Highest new entry is Mason Jennings who I'll get a chance to talk to in a wonderful setting on March 8 as part of the Nobel Peace Prize Forum at Augsburg.
