Like all good children, we're spending this Mother's Day thinking about our moms. At the Current, we try to look at most things through a musical lens, so for us, Mother's Day tends to be about the music that reminds us of Mom.

One song on our playlist stood out as a good Mother's Day reminder: Conor Oberst's "You Are Your Mother's Child." The song will appear on the forthcoming album Upside Down Mountain, which comes out Tuesday, May 20 (but we'll have a First Listen preview of starting on Monday, May 12).

Oberst debuted "You Are Your Mother's Child" for us back in September, 2012 when he performed a quick studio session before his career-spanning show at the Fitzgerald Theater. We were immediately taken with the song and its endearing mother-child/growing up theme.

Give it a listen (above) and see if it doesn't remind you of dear old Ma.

What other music makes you think of your mom? What songs did she play for you as a child? Let us know in the comments below.
