High school bands: Submit your music for the Local Show's Back to School episode

Three years ago, the local team here at The Current stumbled across so many impressive high-school bands that we decided to air the first-ever, high-schoolers-only edition of The Local Show.

It's turned into quite the fun tradition — there are only so many young up-and-coming bands that we can stumble on by chance, so it's become our annual "call to action" for the 18-and-under set.

Back in 2012, we invited Bomba de Luz into the studio to record a session, and we aired dozens of tracks from emerging young acts. The next year, we did it all again and capped off the episode with a session from Jack Campbell. Last year, our in-studio guests were Stereo Confession.

Now we're returning for round four, and on Sunday, Sept. 13, we'll go "Back To School" again.

On that Sunday's episode, we'll play music exclusively from high-school musicians, or those who have just graduated and are heading off to their freshman year of college in Minnesota. Since covering the entire high school music scene in a mere two hours is a tall order, the scholastic fun will continue the next day on our all-Minnesota music stream, Local Current! Follow along on Monday, Sept. 14 as we showcase many more Back-to-School submissions in alphabetical order from A to Z on Local Current, starting at 2:00 p.m.

We want to shine a spotlight on all the promising new artists in the all-ages scene and blast their music out across our airwaves. And we need your help. We're looking for as many submissions as possible to prepare for this special Local Show episode. And we need your guidance on what's hot and happenin' in the high-school scene.

If you're in a band, here's how you can get in touch with us. Step 1: simply fill in the form below to tell us about yourself (if you're a solo performer) or about your band.

When you complete the form below, you'll be taken to step 2, where you'll find out how to upload your music to us or how to send it to us in physical form.

Important: The submission deadline is end-of-day on Monday, Aug. 31. All materials need to be received by that time in order to be considered.

Thank you for participating!
