CHVRCHES and Kurt Vile both moved up this week to complete the top three. They're two of the many new releases out this Friday as the industry gears up for the end-of-year push. Every Open Eye and b'lieve i'm goin down... are streaming on our site ahead of their street date.
Ben Folds is the biggest climber, up 14 places to No.4. Recently he recorded a session and interview with his doppelganger Bill DeVille. Also up 12 places is Jason Isbell, who is called "The King of Americana" this week by Nashville Scene.
Bill and Jim went to check out the Nashville scene last week for the Americana Music Awards. They left a trail of photos documenting their trip and their choice of appropriate attire!
Dawes are back after a one-week hiatus, and, like Ben Folds, are working with a symphony orchestra in Baltimore this Thursday. The band just premiered a new video for "All Your Favorite Bands" with an all-star cast of cameos including Conor Oberst, My Morning Jacket, Delta Spirit and more.
Laura Marling was in town for Festival Palomino last weekend which had a very successful second year. Before her afternoon set she stopped by the station to record a session with Steve Seel, including a stellar Townes Van Zandt cover.
The only new entry is from local hero Craig Finn of the Hold Steady and Lifter Puller fame, though in a recent interview with Slate he says he's "15 years away from that place now, I can't even make a good restaurant recommendation any more." He'll still be playing two shows in the Twin Cities, however, at the Women's Club on Oct. 24 and the Turf Club the following day.
