Last year’s Grammy winner for Best New Artist is back with new music, full of catchy hooks and sing-a-long choruses.

Nickel Creek’s latest album, ‘Celebrants,’ has brought the group on the road again, including a stop at the Palace Theatre in St. Paul. While in town for that show, Nickel Creek visited The Current to play songs from the new album and to chat with host Mac Wilson.

Starting Sunday, Sept. 10, the weekly show expands to five hours of local coverage from 7 p.m. to midnight.

Minnesota band Kiss the Tiger are topping the Current Chart Show food chain this week and going out large from that top spot as they reach 10 weeks and are welcomed into the Chart Show Hall of Fame. Irish crooner Hozier will join them as he hits 10 weeks as well.

Sociable Cider Werks in northeast Minneapolis hosted the latest Current Happy Hour on Wednesday, Sept. 6. Briston Maroney performed an intimate solo set, and The Current host Jade played a DJ set.
