When Tori Amos first began writing her latest album, 'Native Invader,' she originally was going to explore her family roots. But then events in the wider world and in her personal life began to inform her feelings and the music. 'It became a sonic tsunami, really,' Amos says. 'The songs came hurtling at me very quickly.' Tori Amos stopped at The Current to record a session with Oake and Riley just as her North American tour was beginning.

It had been seven years since Wolf Parade's last album, but when they reunited in a studio in British Columbia, the pieces came together quickly. The resulting album is 'Cry Cry Cry,' and Wolf Parade stopped into the studio to play some songs from it and to talk to Jade about what it is that makes them proud to be Canadian.

Gypsy punks Gogol Bordello just released their seventh album, 'Seekers and Finders,' and they're celebrating with a world tour. Before their show at First Avenue, they stopped by The Current to perform a few songs and chat with Looch.

For her most recent album, 'The Lonely, The Lonesome &The Gone,' singer-songwriter Lee Ann Womack got back to her roots. "I grew up in East Texas, so I went back to East Texas to record," Womack says. Lee Ann Womack, together with guitarist Jonathan Trebing, visited The Current studio to chat with Bill DeVille and to play some songs from her new album.

Hiss Golden Messenger are busy touring in support of 'Hallelujah Anyhow', their second album in as many years. Before their show at the Turf Club in St. Paul, Hiss Golden Messenger stopped at The Current to play songs from their latest album as well as a track from 2016's 'Heart Like a Levee', and to chat with host Mac Wilson.

Having shared mutual friends, an overlapping touring schedule and shared musical interests, it seemed inevitable Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile would become friends. The friends quickly became musical collaborators, and their resulting album, 'Lotta Sea Lice,' is evidence of their productive cross-pollination. Ahead of a sold-out show at the Palace Theatre in St. Paul, Kurt and Courtney stopped at The Current for a session hosted by Jade.

Melbourne-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Tash Sultana has been making waves in her native Australia and around the world with her debut EP, 'Notion.' When she was in town for a sold-out show at the Cedar Cultural Center, Tash Sultana stopped at The Current for a session hosted by Jill Riley.

Internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter Vance Joy released a new single, 'Lay It on Me,' in 2017, and is touring in support of fellow Australian Amy Shark. Vance Joy stopped at The Current studio to play a couple songs and to chat with host Brian Oake -- assuring us a new album is in the offing.
