The duo of Slug and Ant, along with their touring DJ Plain Ole Bill, came by the Current's studios to perform songs off their new album, Fishing Blues, and talk about their long and prolific career.

Rising artist Julia Jacklin stopped by The Current to perform songs off her debut album 'Don't Let the Kids Win' and to chat with host David Safar about growing up in Australia and traveling the States.

Saint Motel formed and are based in Los Angeles, but the band's A/J Jackson is originally from Minneapolis. 'My metric of how we're doing as a band is my mom and whether or not she hears us on The Current,' Jackson says. Touring in support of their album, 'saintmotelevision,' Saint Motel stopped at The Current for a session hosted by Mac Wilson.

Performing as the Lemon Twigs, brothers Brian and Michael D'Addario stopped by The Current to perform songs off their 'Do Hollywood' debut live in-studio and to chat with host Jade.

Toronto band the Strumbellas have been touring relentlessly for the past six months, but they've finally just come to Minnesota. 'We've heard that Minnesota has a very Canadian vibe,' says frontman Simon Ward. 'I don't know why we haven't come till now.' Ahead of their show at the Fine Line in Minneapolis, the Strumbellas visited The Current studio for a session hosted by Mary Lucia.

Jay Smart turned heads with his cover of Haley Bonar's "Kismet Kill," but he proved himself a solid singer/songwriter when he performed all original material in-studio for 'The Local Show.'

Whether writing, producing or performing, Jack Garratt brings a serious work ethic to everything he does. 'I have a job and I have a duty, professionally and creatively, to give the best performance I physically can every single time I play,' Garratt says. In town for a recent show at First Avenue, Jack Garratt joined host Sean McPherson for a session recorded in The Current studio.

It's been an interesting year for Bishop Briggs, aka Sarah Grace McLaughlin. Bishop Briggs spent last summer opening for Coldplay, and now she is touring with Austin-by-way-of-Iceland band Kaleo. Before her Twin Cities show, Bishop Briggs stopped at The Current for a session hosted by Mac Wilson.

Billy Bragg and Joe Henry have just released an album of railroad songs recorded at a number of train stations between Chicago and Los Angeles. 'It's certainly not about nostalgia,' Henry says. 'This is a part of our living heritage.' Bragg and Henry stopped in to the studio to play some songs and to chat with host and producer Mike Pengra.

The members of Phantogram suffered a personal tragedy during the making of their recent album, 'Three.' But the music helped them express the many resulting emotions. 'It's cathartic in that way,' says Phantogram's Sarah Barthels. 'It's kind of like our therapy.' Touring in support of 'Three', Phantogram stopped by The Current's studio for a session hosted by Jade.
