Wholesale changes in the Chart this week. We lost Lykke Li after eight weeks, tUnE-yArDs after seven, PHOX after five, Sylvan Esso after four and Glass Animals after only one week. That also affected the gender balance and sound of the chart overall — it's become more male and ... roots-ier!?

Submit your Chart Show ballot this week for a chance to win VIP tickets to the inaugural Festival Palomino at Canterbury Park on Saturday, Sept. 20!

Speaking of roots-y, Trampled By Turtles return to the top with just one more week before they get inducted to the Chart Show Hall of Fame and get ready for their inaugural Festival Palomino at Shakopee's Canterbury Park on Saturday, Sept. 20. #2 Spoon will likely be inducted next week, too.

Speaking AGAIN of roots, Jack White is the highest new entry with a song that has a significant violin contribution from Lillie Mae Rische of Jypsi. Here's video of them performing together at Glastonbury Festival.

Continuing the theme of the week, Tweedy is the rootsier side of Wilco's Jeff, playing with his son Spencer. Their debut is titled Sukierae (sue-key-ray) and it releases Sept. 23 on Wilco's DBpm Records. Our friends at NPR caught them busking in a tunnel!?

Doomtree return to the top 3 this week. Thanks to Sims, Dessa, Mike Mictlan and P.O.S. of the crew for stopping by the MPR booth at the Great Minnesota Get-Together all last week and performing at the big MN Music-on-a-Stick show at the Grandstand this past Saturday!

All making significant upward moves were Bon Iver, Ryan Adams and OK Go, who will be part of the new Wits season that kicks off Sept. 10. They stopped by our studio to play an acoustic set a few weeks back.

Lana Del Rey is back with the title track of her latest album, Ultraviolence, which doesn't get discussed in a musical way much. Writers tend to concentrate on her feelings and particular quotes in her interviews. This week in the Independent, a seven hour-long discussion ends with her not wanting the paper to run the conversation. The Irish newspaper ended up publishing the interview, and with it take an in-depth, fascinating look at how her mind works and unravels.

The New Pornographers return this week with another track from the new Brill Bruisers. One of the lead songwriters A. C. Newman apparently likes to listen to the Flaming Lips while working out! Check out more of his tastes, courtesy of Pitchfork.

J Mascis' band Dinosaur Jr. are old heroes of the Boston music scene so it was nice to see the Boston Globe give his newly released solo album, Tied to a Star, a thumbs up: "Here's an alt-rock hero unafraid to lay it all on the line."
