The Chart Show: First Aid Kit at #1 ahead of sold out Twin Cities gig

First Aid Kit hit the top this week ahead of their sold out show at the Varsity Theater June 3, a week before their new album Stay Gold drops.
The sisters just released a video for "Silver Lining," filmed appropriately in an old mansion in Silver Lake, California. Johanna and Klara Soderberg say, "The idea of things in life changing, even scaring you, but still having to carrying on despite it all is a theme in the song, which we wanted to convey in the video."
Haley Bonar's album Last War is out this week and the title track is poised to be inducted to our Hall of Fame at #3. She got good reviews for her release show at the Varsity Theater and visited us last week to perform live in our studios and to chat with Looch.
This week Lucius' "Tempest" and Broken Bells' "After the Disco" are inducted to the Hall of Fame. Don't forget Broken Bells are coming back to the Twin Cities, where the first leg of their After the Disco tour began, playing the State Theater Aug. 3.
When they were in our studios before their sold out First Avenue gig, HAIM were a little miffed to hear that St. Vincent had knocked them off the top last week, but then they — especially Alana — were mortified to hear about the special football skills that Annie Clark has. They all love soccer and Prince as they explained in our interview.
St.Vincent also apparently mortified some viewers of Saturday Night Live last weekend. Social media blasts suggested that many didn't know who she was or what she was playing?! In my opinion, it was a brilliant booking by the show to end the season with!
Speaking of great telly, highest new entry this week is from Jack White who collaborated with Neil Young to cut a record live on The Tonight Show last week!
The other new entry is from Beck, who has appeared on a bunch of TV shows for his new album Morning Phase and though he hasn't booked a local show yet, there are two festivals that might be worth a road trip. He's headlining the First City Festival in Monterey Aug. 23 and 24 and sharing a bill with Portishead, Outkast, Simple Minds, Foals and many more at the Electric Picnic in Laois, Ireland the following weekend!
Thanks to J. Roddy Walston and the Business for playing our party last Friday morning at Psycho Suzi's! We have more beer release parties planned including this Thursday, May 22 at the Amsterdam Bar and Hall with the Cactus Blossoms playing at 4 p.m.
Big shout outs also to everyone who came out to Art-A-Whirl last weekend to support the artists and musicians. The weather couldn't have been better! Let's hope it is like that again for Memorial Day weekend and Soundset on Sunday at Canterbury Park with Atmosphere, Lizzo, Nas, Cypress Hill and many more.
